I made my Miso Butter Mushrooms on Toast recipe Live on Channel 4 Sunday Brunch - Find out what it was like!
I am still buzzing from being on Sunday Brunch this weekend!
It was such an incredible experience, and the team there are so slick - they really look after you and help you prepare well for the show. I chose a dish I love and make regularly so that I could be as relaxed as possible on set. Miso Butter Mushrooms with Whipped Tofu, served with soft boiled eggs for an umami rich brunch.
Did I mention that the show was star-studded?! That's right!! There was the superstar Lucien Laviscount from Emily in Paris and Bridgerton... my Instagram blew up when I said that he was going to be on the show, and I was going to be feeding him! He was incredibly friendly, as was the rest of the guests on the show. My miso butter mushrooms were enjoyed by Tim Lovejoy, Carrie Hope Fletcher and Dustin Demri-Burns. What a lovely bunch of miso tasters who started to nibble at my dish, whilst I was preparing Simon's dish! It was great that they were already familiar with miso already! It was so much fun hanging out with them backstage and hearing about all their new projects coming up! Music by Lady Blackbird was absolutely mesmerising, it was really cool to hear her rehearsing from my dressing room!
Miso Butter mushrooms is such an easy, delicious dish that can be knocked up for a quick lunch - I have loved seeing everyone's recreations of the dish already! One person told me that he had it for lunch and dinner already! Incredible!
The whipped tofu is perhaps the surprising element, the cooling flavours of the tofu contrast in a lovely way against the depth from the miso mushrooms. I really urge you to try it at home! Head to our recipe blog here!
The miso butter is really handy to have in the fridge to flavour up your favourite meals, sweetcorn and mashed potato!
Remarkably the filming set is so much smaller than I imagined, but it was also cosy and super friendly. It was such a thrill watching from behind the scenes. Massive kudos to the presenters, it is FULL-ON for them, and they are so warm and welcoming. They literally go from one piece to the next, it's amazing how they keep up their energy, I was ready for a nap after my session!
If you watched our IG stories, you will see that I had a great dressing room and there was lots of buzz backstage with all the guests. It was such a dream to be there and I just can't wait to go back and do it all over again!
The only part that was a bit of a surprise was the "DANCE" - you might have spotted the little 'sting' they created at the start where i do a little boogie to the Sunday Brunch theme song - I wasn't expecting them to put the whole thing on the show though! haha! I can only hope it was because it was SO COMPELLING!
I had a blast, it was a great experience - it was like a 12 minute live advert for miso and tofu! Everyone is SO lovely on the show. Simon and Tim are a great double act! Always so warm and supportive.
